Tiles, adhesives and tools to suit.
We source tiles and adhesive from specialist suppliers in Luxembourg and Belgium, or we lay tiles you've chosen yourself. The adhesive, anti-slip class and grout type are selected to match the use and substrate.
- Porcelain stoneware, wall tiles, natural stone, glass or paste mosaic
- Deformable tile adhesive (C2S1/C2S2) depending on substrate and format
- Under-tile waterproofing for showers and wet rooms
- Wet tile cutter, self-levelling clips, laser level
- Cement or epoxy grout depending on use (bathroom, kitchen, outdoor)
Your questions about tiling.
What surface preparation is needed before laying?
The surface must be flat, clean, dry and stable. Depending on its state: self-levelling screed to even out a slab, bonding primer, and — for wet rooms — under-tile waterproofing (SEL/SPEC). For existing tiles, you can tile over them if adhesion allows; otherwise they're removed.
Can you lay large formats (60×60, 80×80, etc.)?
Yes. Large formats require double buttering, perfectly flat substrate and precise cutting. We use a wet tile cutter or angle grinder for clean cuts and self-levelling tile clips to avoid edge lippage.
What joint width should I choose?
Interior floors: 2 to 3 mm typically. Outdoor floors: 4 to 5 mm minimum to absorb expansion. Wall tiles: 1.5 to 2 mm. For wood-effect or rectified stone tiles, a finer joint is possible. We suggest a grout colour to match the tile (light, grey, anthracite).
How long before you can walk on it?
24 hours for careful foot traffic after laying, 48 hours after grouting for normal use. In a bathroom, wait at least 7 days before the first shower to let the adhesive and grout fully cure, especially when under-tile waterproofing is in place.
Do I need to remove the old tiles or can you tile over them?
Tiling over is possible if the old tiles are firmly fixed (mallet test), flat and the heights (doors, skirting, shower drain) allow it. Otherwise we strip them out with an electric chisel and rework the screed or use a levelling compound. We assess both options during the visit.
Can you work with my own tiles?
Yes. You can supply the tiles (bought directly from a Luxembourg or Belgian supplier) and we invoice the labour, adhesive and grout. We can also include the supply in the quote with a choice agreed together.
