How long does it take to fit a door?
A standard interior door with full doorset (frame + leaf) takes 2 to 3 hours to fit. Replacing an entrance door takes 4 to 6 hours, longer if the frame needs reworking. An armoured door can take a full day, especially if an A2P-certified multi-point lock (the French standard for certified anti-burglary locks) is fitted.
Does the door frame always have to be replaced?
Not always. If the frame is sound, square and compatible with the new doorset, only the leaf can be replaced — cheaper and faster. If it's damaged, out of true or too old, we replace the lot to guarantee long-term function and a good seal.
What level of security for an entrance door?
For a standard home, a multi-point lock (3 or 5 points) with a high-security cylinder is a good compromise. For ground-floor flats, doors onto a courtyard, or higher-risk premises, a certified armoured door (A2P standard) is recommended. We advise based on your exposure and budget — without overselling.
Can a sliding door go anywhere?
No. You either need clear wall the same width as the door (surface-mounted sliding) or to create a pocket frame in the partition (pocket sliding — neater but more invasive to install). We measure constraints on site — including load-bearing walls, sockets and switches that may need to move.
Do you fit restored period doors or only new ones?
Both. For an older property, keeping and restoring an original door (planing, new hinges, repainting) is often preferable to replacement. We assess feasibility — sound timber, standard sizes, condition of ironmongery.
Do you fix doors that don't close or that catch?
Yes. A catching door is usually caused by settling (hinges to adjust or replace), the timber swelling (needs planing) or a misaligned frame. Free diagnosis; the repair is often done within the day.
